Our Mission

Revitalization.

The CLT will support the revitalization of a marginalized community of color through the development of affordable housing and programming of land.

Stewardship.

The CLT will own, develop, and manage land in order to create a just, equitable, and resilient Edgemere.

Organizing.

The CLT will use grassroots methods to plan and develop housing, open spaces, and amenities to cultivate economic, ecological, and cultural vibrancy.

Our Team

  • Board Member

    Amber Clinkscales is a New York native currently residing in Arverne. Amber is a community advocate and philanthropist, having built a large network in the Rockaways from a wide range of occupational backgrounds. Amber currently serves as a member of the Garden by the Bay and the Student Leadership Team (SLT) in the Department of Education.

  • Board Member

    Alexis Foote is a resident of Arverne, NY. She is a trained medical assistant, currently serving as a Unit Assistant at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Alexis became involved in her community as a park mommy, hosting events funded through the Partnership for Parks at local open spaces. She joined Rockaway Wildfire after Sandy and has volunteered with RISE, 596 Acres, Sane Energy, the New York City Community Land Initiative, and the Garden By the Bay. She holds an Associates in Human Services and is pursuing a BA in Health Service Administration.

    Zakhia is a trained geologist and Rockaway resident, who has been involved with coastal awareness and sustainability programs throughout Edgemere, including as an Earth Science teacher at a local high school and as an environmental educator with RISE. Zakhia continues this work at a nation-leading environmental education non-profit working in partnership with institutions such as NYCPS Office of Sustainability. Zakhia is a member of the National Association of Black Geoscientists and the North American Association for Environmental Education.

    Sharon Lewis-Williams is a public servant living in Edgemere, NY. Sharon has worked as an attorney on environmental issues with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, the Environmental Control Board, and the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice. She has also served as an Administrative Law Judge for The New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. She currently serves as Vice President of Edgemere Alliance is a homeowner in the neighborhood and passionately believes in the power of homeownership. Sharon earned her bachelor's degree at Howard University and her Juris Doctor at the Paul M. Hebert School of Law. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

    Sonia Moise is a first generation American and Brooklyn native, raised on the Rockaway Peninsula. She is currently President of Edgemere Community Civic Association and Secretary of Community Board 14, where she chairs the Health and Social Services committee. Sonia is a homeowner in Edgemere and believes everyone deserves the right to generational wealth through homeownership. Sonia is certified Yoga Instructor and a Registered Nurse with over 20 years experience, holding a Masters Degree in Nursing Informatics and Administration. Sonia is very passionate about health and wellness and gives back to her community by providing free yoga classes focusing on movement, meditation and healthy living.

    Lisa Sampson has been homeowner in Edgemere for over seventeen years. Lisa is a veteran of the financial services industry serving as Securities Case Analyst on Wall Street for most of her career. Lisa is currently working in Healthcare Administration at St. John's Episcopal Hospital. She is passionate about ensuring her community is connected with quality and compassionate healthcare. Lisa serves as Chief Financial Officer for Edgemere Alliance. She is also a member of the Garden by the Bay and an entrepreneur with a focus on providing healthy food options to members of her community through her business, Blissful Flavors. Lisa earned her Bachelor's Degree at Brooklyn College.

    Doug is an urban planner from Queens, NY. Over the past fifteen years, he has worked to expand opportunities for affordable housing, address inequities in open space access, and improve community health. Doug earned his BA at the University of Pennsylvania and his Master in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
